Spiritual Directive

Save Wednesday MAY 13 at 6pm for a special night of worship as we close out the 2025-2026 season. Our bedrock passage is John 15:1-11 for the evening. In this conversation, Jesus makes some incredible statements. He begins with a set of promises and set of facts before communicating a call to action. First, the facts: it's all about Me and My Father: Jesus is the true vine and the Father is the vinedresser. Everything that's about to be said can't happen unless these things are true, which means we best order our lives with that understood right up front. God's in charge, and His Son is the change agent that turns our world into a stunning vineyard. I'll have more to say about these three verses in the coming weeks.... Secondly, the action and God's expectation for His people. Simply put, abide. Jesus is inviting mankind back into a relationship with He and the Father through the Holy Spirit. In the beginning there was God in perfect harmony, and the crown of creation abandoned that harmony for its own, and we've been an ugly song ever since. But God desires to welcome us home in Him so that through Him we might be blessed. Verse eleven closes out this teaching saying, "I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full." Adam of course did not abide, and therefore robbed his and Eve's heart of the joy of the Lord by their sin. Jesus has come that we might be called back into that joy...
