“Who Are You Really?”Preached by Bro. Mahlon T. LeCroix on 4/12/2026.Sermon Series: 1Corinthians: Worth the Work Main Passage: 1Corinthians 1:4-9
I began my sermon this morning talking about who? - Samuel was looking at the man, while God was looking at the heart. - King David is known for many great accomplishments, and many great failures. What are some of both that you remember? - Why do people not question David’s relationship with God after his many failures, but often question Churches that fall into sin? - Paul would have been far more hurt by the Corinthian Church than most, but he didn’t forsake them. He did the opposite; he leaned in and fought to help them. 1) Who we Are (vs.4-7)- Paul list 5 truths about who the Corinthian believers truly are in Christ, that also applies to all believers today. a) Saved by Grace (v.4)i) Paul always rejoiced in God’s grace, not only for the Corinthians, but because it reminded him to the grace he too received. ii) When others fall into sin, does it ever cause you to think of grace? ii) How is grace different from mercy? b) Abundantly blessed (v.5)i) Paul specifically mentions two areas we are blessed in: Speech and Knowledge. (ref: Rom.12:2) c) Secularly Established (v.6) i) Do you see God’s hand on your life when you think back? d) Gifted (v.7a) What gifts/talents do you use in the Body/Church? e) Spiritually Minded (v.7b) Do you think about the Kingdom at all? 2) Who we will be (vs.8-9)- Jesus will make sure He finishes what He started in you. Paul points to God’s faithfulness and not ours. (ref: Phil.1:6; Heb.12:2)- Jesus will confirm us and make us blameless in the end. - Perfection (blamelessness) is the requirement, and we only have that in Jesus. (ref: Mat.5:48) In closing, - I reiterate all the points and truths from above by telling you how it is evident in my life. - One of my greatest comforts and encouragement is knowing God isn’t done with me yet. - Can you see the points and truths in your life? If not, put your faith in Christ today.
