Financial Secretary Job Description

The Financial Secretary is responsible for the day-to-day management of all budgets, finance, and human resources (HR) functions of the church. This role ensures these functions are performed in accordance with the church’s financial accounting procedures, policies, and the guidance of the Finance Committee with direct report to Senior Pastor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pay bills, process payroll, and prepare financial statements.• Receive and record members’ gifts, supervise the counting and deposit of all offerings, and manage other related financial tasks.• Collaborate with staff and volunteer committees to provide information and assistance on church matters, including attending relevant church meetings.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree: plus, work experience in a similar position required (min 2-3 years); non-profit experience is preferred due to the use of fund accounting.• Basic understanding of accounting procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn church-specific financial software (e.g., ACS).• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.• Trustworthy, honest, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.• Dedication to the church and its mission - “Experience authentic faith through real people meeting a real Savior undergoing real change and becoming a real church.”

Job Details:

• Job Type: Part-time (30 hours per week)• Schedule: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Thursday (4 days per week, flexible)• Benefits: Paid time off annually, with major holidays paid• Requirements: Background check plus financial screening is required.• Pay: To be discussed
